Sir Alex to Rafa Benitez: You won't win the title.
Thursday, August 06, 2009 ~ Jay C.

Right, back to football.........Sir Alex has told Rafa that his team have no chance winning the title from them this season.
Ferguson said Ancelotti's Chelsea is his main worry for this season.
Fergie said: "It will be hard for them to match last season, let alone improve on it. Other teams will know more about them."
Liverpool came a close second to United last season, but Ferguson wasn't stressed.
He went on to say: "Liverpool had probably their best season for 20 years and still finished four points adrift.
"It has to be Chelsea as the main threat. Ancelotti will change how they play.
"They will play the Milan way. It brought him two European Cups - it should have been three, because they should never have lost to Liverpool. So why should he change?"
He added: "The thrust of their team is all about Gerrard and Torres."
Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City had just better step back and watch Man Utd do it again. Remember in the early 90's when UTD were winning everything, it was either Fergie or Wenger lifting trophies, well it's that time again, only Arsenal won't be anywhere near a trophy this season again.
Although i don't really like Ferguson, i have to applaud him in what he's done at Man Utd over the last 20 years.
All hail Alex the Great!
No excuses for Rafa this time around.

Critics have stated their confusion and disappointment at the Kop boss for not finding a quick replacement for Robbie Keane, who Rafa sent him back to White Hart Lane in January. But they almost have Aquilani's signature to add to the strikers list.
But

It doesn't matter whether Rafa plays 1 striker or plays four strikers goal-hanging, his problem is the defence. Hypia has gone, Carragher is iffy. It's like Milan, they're concentrating on attack but where's the defence?
I was told as a boy from my gym teacher....."always play with a defensive mentality, you'll always get at least 1 point."
Aquilani to move to the Reds.
Wednesday, August 05, 2009 ~ Jay C.

Rafa the Gaffa has wasted no time in securing this deal after Xabi Alonso is finalizing his 30 million pound transfer to Real Madrid.
A statement on Liverpool's website read: "Liverpool FC today confirmed they have agreed a deal with AS Roma for the transfer of Italian international Alberto Aquilani, subject to a medical. "Liverpool concluded their discussions with Roma once the sale of Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid was finally agreed."
Aquilani, 25, is expected to be one of the main men for Italy in next year's World Cup in south Africa.
Boss Benitez said: "Alberto is a very good player and I'm delighted we've reached agreement with Roma for his transfer. He will travel to Merseyside later this week for a medical. Alberto has a winning mentality and great experience in both Serie A and the Champions League.
"He has long been recognised as a top class talent in Italy, captaining his country at both Under-19 and Under-21 levels before establishing himself in the senior national side."
It is amazing how Liverpool can be in so much debt, just like Arsenal and Manchester United, but yet tend to spend more than the other two clubs. How is this possible?
Plans for a new stadium were scrapped, debts were rising so much that one co-owner had to sell his hockey team, but yet Rafa goes on a spending spree again.
I can see why some Chairmen of football clubs want control in the transfer part of their clubs footballing life.
Please stay Alonso!
Sunday, July 26, 2009 ~ Jay C.

Benitez told a press conference "I was talking to him yesterday and telling him to listen to the fans. They love Xabi."
"I said to him, 'Maybe you have to stay.'
"You can see he is a really good player and I'll be really pleased if he stays. All the players want him to stay. They want to win and be contenders this year.
"If we keep Xabi I will be very pleased, and I feel the same way about Javier Mascherano."
That's great Rafa, but maybe he's tired of you, maybe he's tired of not winning the Premier League, or maybe he wants more money than you can offer.
Whatever it is, i'm sure we'll find out soon enough. (i place my bet on the latter!)
Gerrard is a free man
Saturday, July 25, 2009 ~ Jay C.

I don't know what to say anymore, it's just stupid that a man punches another man which is caught on CCTV, can be set free by the court because basically he didn't start the fight, but yet he joined in. Did Gerrard get hurt in the brawl?...NO!, so WTF?
Enough of this crap! And Rafa the Gaffa supports him? WOW! What a f**king great manager you have there Liverpool!

I think Jigsaw would love to play a game with him!
Torres: We can win the Premiership!
Friday, July 24, 2009 ~ Jay C.
Last time Liverpool was top dog in the league was when the won it in 1990 when Kenny Dalglish was manager and it was called the First Division.
With Torres signing a new contract, he says that Liverpool have the quality to fight for top spot in the Premier league, and can even improve on last years performances and i agree that Liverpool have the quality to rival Man UTD, Chelsea and Arsenal, i just don't think it's the right manager for the job.
Torres told a press conference:
'The main thing for me and my teammates is to win trophies, 'Liverpool can win trophies again. We have a fantastic squad and maybe this year is more important than the year before. 'Our team can play better than last season and we can win, that is important for me. I came to Liverpool to win trophies and it's been two years without one which is a long time for Liverpool. 'But I'm sure we can win the Premier League or the Champions League.'
Torres must be dreaming if he thinks he'll be holding some kind of trophy next season, Liverpool are there, they're just not good enough to maintain the results they need to beat the other top three.
Gerrard update 2
Friday, July 24, 2009 ~ Jay C.

Gerrard said that It was very difficult at the time to explain to police why I did throw that first punch. Well, it seems like after viewing the video, it's hard for anyone to see why you threw the first punch.
LFC chaplain the Reverend Bill Bygroves stated that Gerrard is a terrific ambassador for the club. Yes, i see, it looks like it.
The court was hearing that Gerrard had been in trouble before when he was 19 for drinking and driving.
The footballer told the court that he suffered "a lot of mither" in bars and other places such as shopping centres and restaurants. Ok Stevie, either you're not telling the truth about Liverpool liking you, or you're just a natural twat and that's why people give you 'mither'. Because Mr.McGhee wasn't mithering you.
And to have someone as Kenny Dalglish to speak for your personality, he fucking work's at Liverpool now so yes he's going to say you're a good character.
When the trial continues tomorrow, my dream tonight is for the jury to send you down the river without a paddle.
Out of Liverpool and into Madrid
Thursday, July 23, 2009 ~ Jay C.
Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso has finally broke his silence and has stated that he is happy that Real Madrid want him, and now he wants to fell Rafa the Gaffa's wrath, after the player said he wants showdown talks with the Liverpool manager.
Real have said that their spending is far from over, and Alonso is their next target.
And he said: "It is always a great feeling when Madrid want you, especially considering the phase of the career I am in now.
Real would think that offer 35 million pounds will be sufficient to get the Kop to rerlease Alonso. So another one looks like he's going to play for Perez. Poor Perez, how's he going to fell when the season ends and there are no trophies in the cabinet? We'll find out next may.
Lock Liverpool's Captain Thug-ard up!
Wednesday, July 22, 2009 ~ Jay C.

It was told that 'Stevie G', as he is known to his fellow yobs, "lost his cool" and attacked the businessman "with the style and speed of a professional boxer".
So if he can do it in a nightclub when he's with his yobs, why can't he do it when he's on the pitch? It makes me wish Vinnie Jones was still playing!
Anyway, Gerrard let fly on this man because of a row the two had over the type of music played on the jukebox, in which the businessman was in control of all night. Crybaby Gerrard didn't like it and so Captian Thug-ard confronted the man in which the man got back into Thug-ard's face, but the surprised man got an elbow to the face from one of Gerrard's friends, then only when the man was softened up Gerrard came steaming in with uppercuts.
The best bit is that Gerrard has pleaded not guilty to this shit. What a f**king joke. And of course he's going to be a winner whatever the decision is because he Steven "Can't do anything wrong because i'm a footballer" Gerrard. Please,..... just lock the twat up for a season, with no pay and then see if he'll do it again. All the players who do shit like this should get the same treatment as your average common thief would.......JAIL!!
Remember Cantona when kicked that fan in the chest?.....he only got community service for that fiasco, and the service was teaching little kids how to play soccer. WTF is that???
Here is some of the article.
He claims he was acting in self defence.
Mr Turner told the jury: "The question for you is, 'Did Steven Gerrard take part in unlawful violence?'
"There is no doubt that he did strike Marcus McGee and the question is to decide whether we have proved that Steven Gerrard was not acting in self defence when he struck Marcus McGee. So self defence is the issue.
"You will all be aware that Steven Gerrard is a world class footballer. He has the honour to be captain of Liverpool and to play for England. He is Liverpool born and bred and is a Liverpool hero. He is a star.
"Wherever you go in Liverpool and indeed the world, there are little boys proudly wearing that red Liverpool shirt with No 8 and the name Gerrard on the back.
"We do no say that Mr Gerrard is normally an arrogant man or that he is a bully. We say that night he just lost his self control and joined in an attack which should never have taken place. He let himself down."
Gerrard has put himself in the category of the thug yob, but i guess it's the English player's requirements these days, cry, cheat, harass the ref, that sort of thing?

Rafa in for Young
Sunday, July 19, 2009 ~ Jay C.

But this figure will not keep Rafa from trying to sign the Villa star, for the prospect of playing Champions League football might be too much for Young to stay at Villa Park, especially that this season will be the most important one for England's World Cup hopefuls.
Benitez tore what left of his hair out when these two clubs battled it out on the money front for Gareth Barry last year, a fight which Villa won but only because the Anfield board refused to pay the asking price of 18 million pounds.
Benitez will have the funds this time around even though O'Neill has put a 30 million pound price tag on Young, but won't get any transfer funds from the sale of Alonso, as the Spaniard is ready to stay at Anfield.
It doesn't matter who Rafa buys, or how much he spends, he always buys the wrong players, then when they don't perform like the way he wants them to, he puts them on the bench or sells them within a season or two.
If you were Liverpool manager right now, who would you buy?
Hey....you told me that you were mine!
Friday, July 17, 2009 ~ Jay C.

Rafa said that Barry's move to Man City was all about the money. Could it be that Barry just didn't like the setup at Liverpool, or even not like Benitez?
Rafa is upset(again) because Liverpool have made it no secret for along time that Barry has been a major target for them, but with Barry signing for Man City, it came as a huge f**k you to Benitez.
Barry said: "I think there was maybe a bit of frustration because it was well documented that Liverpool were in the market to sign me for a couple of years.
"But Manchester City had agreed a fee with Aston Villa. Once I'd spoken to the manager, heard the ambition and he told me what the club were aiming for, that suited me.
"People can talk about the money because of the speculation in the media but the players who are now joining City are proving my decision to be correct.
"These are players who are really going to improve Manchester City and take us to where we want to go."
Don't worry Gareth, Rafa will get over it......eventually. (Can somebody find Rafa's pacifier please?)
The Anfield Rap
Wednesday, July 15, 2009 ~ Jay C.
And this is why players should polish their boots, train harder on the pitch, and go out there and play their socks off, not check the mic, not turn up the volume and definitely not sing out loud!
So here's the video. For you who aren't a Liverpool fan, enjoy, for you who are.....hide your shame.....Now where did I put that paper bag?........
Rafa the Gaffa thought about Owen.......how sweet
Tuesday, July 14, 2009 ~ Jay C.

“We had contact with different people and were analysing the situation,” Benitez told The People. “But if you want to play Torres and Gerrard there is not always a lot of space for other players.
“When I brought back Robbie Fowler it was a different situation. We were looking for someone who could understand his role clearly and he was a good finisher.

Pennant's Real shocker
Tuesday, July 14, 2009 ~ Jay C.

Pennant, who spent last season on loan at Portsmouth, said:
"I wanted to come to Spain. I had offers from important teams in Europe but joined Real Zaragoza. I really want to get started and do well in the league."Why oh why would you go from England to Spain only he knows. But I don't think he was given a chance at Liverpool. Managers like Rafa and Mourinho think you have to have the big names to win leagues, you don't. All you need is a good bunch of players who believe in themselves, great backing, a manager who doesn't get flustered under pressure, a bit of luck and it's quite possible the league trophy is yours at the end of the season.
In any case, I hope he does well in Spain. Good luck to him.
King Kenny returns! It's about time!
Friday, July 03, 2009 ~ Jay C.

Dalglish won eight League titles in 14 years with the Reds as a player and a manager, will act as a club ambassador. Whatever you want to call this position, personally I think it's the wrong one, Dalglish should be MANAGER of Liverpool.
"We are delighted he has agreed to join us," recently appointed Liverpool managing director Christian Purslow told the club's website.Rumours of Dalglish's return to Anfield have been floating around all summer while Rafa has been doing some very late but much needed Spring cleaning.
"I am sure he will be very successful in his new role back at the club."
King Kenny left Liverpool in February 1991, won the Premiership with Blackburn Rovers in 1995, managed Newcastle United, and had a spell as Director of Football at Celtic, who he left in 2000.
"In our very first meeting, Rafa and I agreed that we wanted to try to bring Kenny back to the club to help Rafa really drive forward our Academy which is at the heart of our plans for the future," said Purslow.
I hope Rafa the Gaffa doesn't stop King Kenny from doing what he wants at Liverpool. I think Rafa could learn a lot of good things from Kenny, but Rafa gives me the impression that he's a control freak. I understand that it's "HIS": team, but i hope he remembers who he has brought on board The Kop Cruise, so let Kenny help Liverpool to their first ever Premier League title (19th Championship) with plain sailing.
Johnson agrees to Liverpool move
Tuesday, June 23, 2009 ~ Jay C.

A Liverpool statement said: "We have reached an agreement with Portsmouth and Glen Johnson for the transfer of the player to Anfield."
Johnson is Liverpool's first signing this summer and due to Liverpool operating under financial restrictions, boss Rafa Benitez will be ready to sell Andrea Dossena to help fund the transfer.
Portsmouth paid £4M for 24-year-old defender Johnson who has emerged as Benitez main target after having top notch performances throughout the year at Fratton Park last season. Spaniard Alvaro Arbeola could also be going out of Liverpool to raise money for the Johnson deal, with Real Madrid being in the forefront of an £8M bid.
Johnson had signed a new four year deal at Pompey at the start of the year, but club officials conceded that they would not stand in his way if bigger clubs came knocking for his signature. The move to Liverpool will assure that Johnson plays Champions League football next season.
