Vidic: "I'm staying put"

Nemanja Vidic is currently trying to persuade his wife Ana that Manchester is where they should be, despite the missus being unhappy in England. The Sebian international has said that he has received offers from Italian giants AC Milan, Spanish 1 and 2 Barcelona and Real Madrid and his wife Ana wanted him to choose anyone of them, rather than staying with the Premier League champs.

But Vidic has said no. “My wife Ana is unhappy with our lifestyle in Manchester but I am not going to change my mind as I am happy with the team and Manchester and the club’s ambitions for next season.”

Since moving to Manchester from Spartak Moscow, he's made the Old Trafford faithful very happy, and now that Ronaldo and Tevez have gone, Ferguson wouldn't want to lose the backbone of his successful team disrupted. He has turned down an offer of £26.5million from Barcelona and rewarded Vidic's fine play with a a new three year contract and a pay raise of £20,000 a week to £70,000.

Vidic, now Serbia’s highest-earning player, revealed he got offers from Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid. He said he played a very honest game and disclosed all offers to Sir Alex.
“He reacted quickly", Vidic said. "I was told he was raising my pay to bring it to the level where my reputation is in the Premier League and Europe. After Milan and Real Madrid made their offers, Barcelona came in — they wanted to pay 30m for my services. But after Sir Alex’s move, I am definitely staying in Manchester until my contract expires in 2012. “I don’t care that I will still not be paid as much as my good friends Rio Ferdinand or Wayne Rooney but I guess I will be at the same level as Berbatov and Carrick. "My style of play is now completely adjusted to the Premier League.”
Whatever the outcome of this, lets hope that it doesn't affect his game, because even though I'm not a fan of Man UTD, Vidic is a good defender, and it would actually be nice to see him replace the vacancy left behind by Poalo Maldini in Milan's back four.

I don't think he's too cocky, maybe just a little swagger. But these days, ALL Premiership players have swagger.

    Thanks for the comment Pietro
